Herr Peter Krummrich wurde im Jahr 1966 in Braunschweig geboren. Er studierte an der Technischen Universität Braunschweig und dem New Jersey Institute of Technology Elektrotechnik mit der Vertiefungsrichtung Hochfrequenztechnik. Die im Jahr 1992 abgeschlossene Diplomarbeit beschäftigte sich mit dem Aufbau einer hochauflösend durchstimmbaren Laserquelle zur Erzeugung kurzer optischer Impulse. Das Thema der Promotion, die im Jahr 1995 abgeschlossen wurde, waren Praseodym-dotierte Faserverstärker für den Wellenlängenbereich um 1,3 µm. Ebenfalls im Jahr 1995 trat Herr Krummrich eine Stelle bei der Siemens AG in München an. Er arbeitete dort als technischer Experte, später auch als Projektleiter und als Dienststellenleiter, an Aufgaben in der Vorfeldentwicklung, im technischen Marketing, der Baugruppenentwicklung und der Systementwicklung. Zu den technischen Themen zählte zunächst die Untersuchung verteilter Erbium-dotierter Verstärker in Kooperation mit einem externen Partner. Später erweiterte sich der Themenbereich um Technologien für robuste optische Netze, wie Raman-Verstärkung, leistungsfähige Modulationsverfahren, optische und elektrische Entzerrer sowie Polarisations-Modendispersions-Kompensatoren. Eine große Rolle spielte dabei auch die Untersuchung des Einflusses von Störeffekten auf die Übertragung wie Rauschen durch Quanteneffekte oder Mehrwegeinterferenzen sowie lineare und nichtlineare Signalverzerrungen. Im Jahr 2007 wechselte Herr Krummrich an die Universität Dortmund und übernahm dort die Leitung des Lehrstuhls für Hochfrequenztechnik. Fachlich beschäftigt er sich weiterhin mit Technologien für optische Übertragungssysteme. Hinzugekommen sind Themen der klassischen Hochfrequenztechnik, wie beispielsweise die Erforschung von neuen Konzepten fuer Kammern zur Messung der elektromagnetischen Verträglichkeit von Geräten. Für seine Diplomarbeit erhielt Herr Krummrich 1993 eine Auszeichnung mit dem Preis der SEW Eurodrive Stiftung. Aufgrund seiner erfinderischen Tätigkeit bei Siemens wurde er 1998 zum ÖN Erfinder des Jahres ernannt. Für Veröffentlichungen zur Raman-Verstärkung erhielt er den Preis der ITG 2004.
